Countdown No 12: Breakfast in America

Having received the notorious listing book 1001 Albums You Must Hear Before You Die it was soon discredited in my eyes by the omission of one 1979 Supertramp classic Breakfast in America.

Top of my Desert Islands goody bag and long journeys playlists, we were treated to a trip down memory lane seeing Roger Hodgson in Birmingham at the end of May.  A purist venue for a very pure sound, he laid on a delightful couple of hours with even a civilised break for drinks halfway through!

Aside from the music of that album, the iconic front cover is what we all remember fondly – Libby the waitress posed as the Statue of Liberty that American icon of icons.  As is Miss Piggy, so you’ll excuse the juxtaposition above.

Hopefully they revisit the 1001 albums listing at some stage, in the meantime here’s Roger!
